God Bless You.❤️
As I say “God bless you” to myself in the morning,
I feel the energy of these words and understand the power of being kind to my own self.
What started one day from a moment of indifferent mental space,
I realize has now become a daily mantra — a way to reclaim my own power in a quietly spiritual way.
It’s simple: just say your name, and say “God bless you” — for yourself.
Gradually, I find myself doing it more often — and sometimes in the most funny or touching moments.
I caught myself saying it to my tea, to my mirror reflection, even to my plants.
One crisp spring morning, as I turned around, I heard myself say it softly:
“God bless me.”
And then even more clearly: “Gargi, God bless you.”
How did it feel? Sacred.
Reassuring.
It reminded me that we don’t always need it from others.
I have spent years saying “God bless you” to others — to students, to friends, to relatives (even the ones who love to gossip about me!).
But blessing myself felt like applying some sacred asana oil on my being, and sprinkling cool Ganga water on my spirit.
Soon, I noticed this shifted into other areas of life:
Blessing the morning mint tea I prepared with full attention.
Blessing the blog post I was about to write — its intention, its theme.
Blessing a cluttered corner of my room that I had been ignoring for long.
Blessing an overcooked dal and a roasted chapati — ah, my culinary karma!
There is a magic, a miracle in every moment of our lives.
And when I’m tuned into that miracle, I find myself saying “God bless you” to everything and anything.
Some mornings, I even love sending “God bless you” to my WhatsApp groups.
Interestingly, some recipients feel a sense of divine intervention on receiving such a text — especially when it happens to be a tough day for them.
For some, it feels like a blessing from God or from my Guruji.
For me, it has become a small personal sanctuary.
Where do we experience ourselves most present in the now?
As Eckhart Tolle says — sometimes, it is the hospital.
The value of time, human life, suffering, care, grace, pain, and vulnerability — they all come alive in that space.
In every hospital visit — whether for myself or for others — I have found “God bless you” becoming a silent chant that flows non-stop.
It goes out to everyone — patients, attendants, caregivers, nurses, doctors, even the assistant in the corner.
Is there a larger intent to this?
Perhaps not — or perhaps, yes.
It is simply this: “God bless you.”
A Simple Practice
Sit or lie down comfortably.
Close your eyes.
Take a deep breath.
Now repeat five times:
Say your name, and say “God bless you” — for yourself.
Repeat it three more times softly.
Keep your eyes closed for a few moments.
When you are ready, open your eyes.
Feel the feeling.
That is your real experience of “God bless you.”
And of course — add some fun:May your tea never get cold before you finish it.
May you always find your slippers where you left them.
May you never misplace your specs again.
May your day be less WhatsApp forwards, and more real joy.
Try making your own fun list of things you want to bless — or simply say “God bless you” to them.
