Cooking and the cook.

Cooking, food and stories is always on my daily list.

Vinesh Gautam and me were sharing our passion for cooking. With every ingredient I put in the dish,I say a mantra....like adding onions,Om Namah Shivay, tomatoes...Jai Mata di.....,vegetables....ram ram etc and I cook everything in earthen vessels.Inspiring indeed.....is his style.

What mantra for if someone doesn’t want to eat,I asked jokingly.

The recipe has no soul, the cook puts the soul.As I strongly believe every word has a vibration and cooking in this way the therapeutic value is beyond imagination.

There is a sensitivity I always feel towards the quantity.’Enough is a feast’ according to Buddhism. You cook more than enough food and you will end up cooking more than enough stories.

This is so true and time tested! Reciting mantras while kneading the dough for rotis, while making prasad to be distributed to all,was the norm in our homes. Dating grace before a meal, just made it such a lovely family ritual and the 'duty' was taken on by the senior in the family...the instances are globally relevant and the human spirit, infallible. May we all receive blessings, whichever mantra we choose to attain them.
Spiritual mantras give us lot of vibration towards maintain balance in everyday life activities.
