Delusional morning!.

Today I woke up with the delusion...yes, delusion.....that I would have an easy day.

Inspired, calm, slow… very The Road Less Traveled, you know?

Scott Peck says discipline is the tool for a meaningful life, and I said, “Absolutely. I shall now begin my Meaningful Life… today… right after this bath.”

So I started fabulously:

An early morning bath that felt like step one of spiritual evolution, a few stretches that convinced me I am practically a wellness influencer now, and then my beloved spiritual reading: Letters of Swami Turiyananda.

By the time I opened my writing pad and applied my nail paint.....yes, the new foundation shade my mother thinks I’m “overly excited about”.....I was certain this was going to be a gentle, unhurried day.

Very “inner peace meets outer glow.”

But of course, my mother had other plans for my character development.

Every few minutes, she popped in like a philosophical alarm clock:

“Don’t forget you have vegetables to buy.”

“And what about the garden?”

“And this new foundation....you’re behaving like you’ve discovered America!”Mr Trump i hope you don't read this.

As Scott Peck says, Life is difficult.

But he forgot to add:

It becomes especially difficult when your mother is determined to remind you of every vegetable in the subzi mandi.

Still, I tried to hold on to my Zen bubble.

And then.....plot twist.

The universe sent me a reminder I had avoided:

I have an appointment at 8:30 AM.

So much for my easy day.

One moment I’m floating through spiritual bliss, and the next I’m sprinting across the room like a person in an ad for smudge-proof nail paint.

My freshly painted nails were drying slower than any soul on the road to enlightenment.

My serene morning transformed into a full-blown comedy show:

Half spiritual seeker, half panicked human remembering real-world responsibilities.

But here’s the strange part.....

that little bit of discipline actually worked.

Just like The Road Less Traveled promises, the daily practice—even a small one—puts a cushion under the chaos.

So even though the morning attacked me from all directions.....Calendar. Nails. Life purpose.

And my mother’s ongoing TED Talk on vegetables, gardening, and foundation—

I still managed to move through it without collapsing.

Moral of the story?

You never know what kind of nonsense your day will serve you.

But some meaningful morning rituals can make the drama feel almost poetic.

Here’s to peaceful mornings that never stay peaceful.

To mothers who remind us of vegetables, gardens, and humility.

And to “The Road Less Traveled,” which prepares us beautifully for the road we never planned to take—

like the one to my 8:30 AM appointment.

Beautifully written Gargi. Such a reminder life needs awakening rituals, to keep you grounded when life happens. And it does!
